Project: Strategic Planning
The Center will develop a strategic plan to assist in attainable projections for the Center over the next three to five years. The plan will cover three primary areas: medical programs, financial responsibilities, and marketing and education.

Family Justice Alliance - $10,000
Project: Family Justice Alliance Strategic Planning
The Family Justice Alliance, an alliance of government and nonprofit human service agencies, will develop a blueprint for the provision of coordinated services supporting victims of family violence in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

National Medal of Honor Museum - $5,000
Project: Comprehensive Program Evaluation
The Medal of Honor Museum plans to develop a cadre of volunteer workers skilled in preventing artifacts while assessing the status and potential value of current holdings. The plan includes a reevaluation of the museum's content and presentation format.

Program Development

Ballet Tennessee - $10,000
Program: St. Andrews Center Pilot Dance Program – Creating Learning Environments in Neighborhoods
Ballet Tennessee will partner with St. Andrew’s Center to create a tuition-free neighborhood dance program that would provide learning opportunities for children. Dance classes will be coordinated to coincide with literacy classes, English as a Second Language classes, and mentoring to provide entire families with learning and enrichment opportunities.

Battle Academy - $5,000
Program: Exploring the Language of Dance and Theatre
The project introduces students to dance and theatre providing foundational knowledge/skills and developmentally appropriate learning experiences. K-2 grades will participate in "Braindance" developed through Anne Gilbert's exploration of learning potential through dance. Third-Fifth grades will explore strategies/techniques of "Process Drama," learning about and through theatre across the curriculum.

Coalition Against Domestic & Community Violence - $20,000
Program: DVC Empowerment Project
The DVC Empowerment Project will provide free job skills training for up to 150 victims of domestic violence and will place a minimum of 20 trained participants in jobs with wages above the poverty level. The project is designed to empower victims and help them escape the cycle of violence and economic dependency that keep victims in abusive relationships.

Girls Incorporated of Chattanooga - $10,000
Program: Safe in My World – A Girls’ Action Research and Advocacy Project
Safe in My World is an action research and advocacy project designed to begin to document the extent and impact of violence in girls’ lives in our community and empower girls as advocates who engage the community in developing solutions. The project is supported by a broad range of partner organizations.

HCDE – High School Guidance Counselors - $10,000
Program: Improving ACT Scores
HCDE High School Counselors recognize that students' post-secondary options and scholarship opportunities are related to ACT scores. The Counselors desire to immediately increase ACT scores for a targeted group of students. Through school-wide training of teachers, we plan to improve ACT scores for all students.

READ Chattanooga, Inc. - $19,580
Program: Community Outreach and Education Program
READ Chattanooga intends to implement a Community Education and Outreach component to its array of programs. READ is developing this program for the purposes of building stronger relationships with social service agencies. Scheduled visits will educate and inform case managers and relevant staff about READ's curriculum, class availability and enrollment processes.

Regional Interagency Council on Homelessness - $10,000
Program: Blueprint to End Chronic Homelessness
The Regional Interagency Council on Homelessness will implement the Blueprint to End Chronic Homelessness, a research-based solution to ending chronic homelessness through supportive, housing-first methodology.

The Sanctuary, Inc. - $20,000
Program: Hummingbird Haven
The Sanctuary, Inc., a nonprofit recovery community for women in Chattanooga with histories of prostitution and drug addiction, is starting its cottage industry, Hummingbird Haven, a workplace for residents of the Sanctuary, which fosters relationships and builds the social, educational, and life skills of residents.

UTC – Department of Education - $18,783.33
Program: Music Therapy Gateway in Communication
UTC will provide an innovative program to autistic children by providing Neurological Music Therapy sessions. There will be direct therapy services as well as programmatic components via the internet. This is being done in cooperation with Music Therapy Gateway in Communication (MTGIC), an emerging Chattanooga-based, non-profit endeavor.

Capital Expenditure

28th Legislative District Community Development Corporation - $10,000
(matching contingency)
Project: Resource and Enterprise Center
The 28th Legislative Community Development Corporation will rehabilitate and remodel a closed minimum security prison into a community Resource and Enterprise Center that will enhance economic opportunity and job creation for marginal income residents of the 28th Legislative District. The Center will act as a further catalyst for community revitalization within the surrounding neighborhoods.

The AIM Center, Inc. - $13,000
Project: Building Futures
The current 13,000 square foot facility will be replaced by a 32,000 foot facility to accommodate increased program participation.

Arts & Education Council - $5,000
Project: AEC Computers
AEC plans to purchase four (4) iMAC Apple Computers, a new HP LaserJet printer and computer software (Microsoft Office and QuarkExpress) to replace its decade old-system.

Chattanooga Boys Choir - $10,000
Project: Music Theory Lab Computer Update
The Music Theory Lab furthers the mission of music education. The current lab contains twelve (12) computers which have difficult functioning properly given the parameters of the current software. The Chattanooga Boys Choir seeks to upgrade the computers and software.

Chattanooga Community Kitchen - $18, 917
Project: New Forklift Truck
Chattanooga Community Kitchen plans to purchase a new forklift truck for use with its Recycle Works Program.

Chattanooga Kids On the Block - $10,750
Project: CKOB On Wheels
CKOB plans to purchase a 15 passenger van to transport program staff, stages, puppets, and supplies to schools and other organizations for the performances. The funds requested include the cost of van detailing with logo, mission and puppet images.

Chattanooga Music Club - $10,000
Project: Restoration of the Austin Pipe Organ in Memorial Auditorium
The Chattanooga Music Club continues its preservation work by restoring the remaining two divisions of the Austin Pipe Organ in Memorial Auditorium. To date, five of the seven divisions have been restored.

Children’s Home/Chambliss Shelter - $10,000
Project: Technology Upgrade
The technology upgrade will encompass new software for all early childhood education programs under the Children’s Home umbrella, hardware upgrades for all such programs, new reporting software for Chambliss Shelter, and laptops for the case managers.

CONTACT of Chattanooga, Inc. – up to $18,895.62
Project: Equipment Upgrade
CONTACT operates with out-of-date equipment: computers/software, printers, copy machine. A projector for PowerPoint presentations is needed for volunteer training/community education and hands-free headsets are needed for the volunteers who staff the call line. Finally, there is a need for a paper shredder and fireproof filing cabinet for better documentation and information control.

East Fifth Street Child Care Center - $20,000
Project: New Building for Center
The project is to purchase and renovate a building for the East Fifth Street Child Care Center. The new facility will be located at 1800 S. Greenwood.

HCDE – High School Guidance Counselors - $17,190.40
Project: Using Technology in Counseling for College
HCDE High School Guidance Counselors will create a college/career center in each high school that will include a dedicated computer (with internet access) and printer for use by juniors and seniors in high school to prepare financial aid and college applications as well as research college and career opportunities.

Knoxville Area Sheet Metal JATC & Trust Fund - $20,000
Project: New Building in Chattanooga
The Knoxville Area Sheet Metal JATC has purchased property at 3109 Curtis Street. The JATC will build an Apprenticeship Training Center to train apprentices/journeypersons for the Sheet Metal Trade. It is a 4,000 square foot facility and will include offices, conference room, class room, computer training area and layout/fabrication instructional area.

Lookout Mountain Land Trust - $10,000
Project: John C. Wilson Park Development Project
The John C. Wilson Park Development Project will transform the former water slide site on Cummings Highway. The Park is an extension of the South Broad Street Redevelopment and a "gateway" to Lookout Mountain.

Pro Re Bona Day Nursery - $15,000
Project: Pro Re Bona Furnishings
Pro Re Bona Day Nursery is expanding services and needs to have two nurseries and one toddler classroom furnished and properly equipped. Specifically, the needs are for baby beds, cots, changing tables, high chairs, riding toys, and water tables.

St. Andrew’s Center - $14,589.90
Project: The St. Andrew’s Center Revitalization Project
Through a consortium of diverse partners, the St. Andrew’s Center will offer educational, social, economic, recreational and cultural opportunities to disadvantaged families in Highland Park/East Chattanooga. Specifically, these grant funds will be used for improvements to and remodeling of the physical structure of St. Andrew’s Center, built in 1902.

Woodmore Hall Youth Association - $20,000
Project: Football and Cheerleading Uniforms and Equipment
Woodmore Hall Youth Association will purchase new equipment for its football teams and cheerleading squads: 75 helmets and chin straps, 75 shoulder pads, 65 cheerleader uniforms and warm-ups, 170 football uniforms and pads, 100 ear pads, 200 mouth pieces, and one field marker and chain set.
