polymer producer NA Industries is building bridges through the Japanese-American
Understanding Fund (JAUF).
When NA Industries became part of the Chattanooga business community by building a polymer plant in the Centre South Riverport, Yugi Noma, then president, along with officials of Nippon Shokubai Company Ltd., NA's parent company, initiated a program designed to promote friendship and cultural understanding between Americans and Japanese.
Each summer up to eight area high school students are selected to visit Japan for eight weeks.
The bridges being built by NA Industries through this program are not tangible; they are bridges to understanding different cultures and are important links in a world made increasingly smaller by technology.
